officially in her "big girl bed"

For months now, we have been transitioning Avery into her "Big Girl Bed".  A new house and a hard fall out of the crib enticed us for the move that much more.

Our strategy of having both the crib and her bed in the same room worked brilliantly.  The "Big girl bed" soon became an exciting privilege while the crib became the less appealing option in no time.  Not to mention the only option if she ever left her bed during nap time.

Over the last few weeks, she's consistently slept in her "big girl bed" with ease and no need for the crib.
Although it does serve as a nice reminder for her to not leave her bed, Tahlia's due date is creeping up and we are ready to hand it over.

Okay, okay...I also like the idea of her room being less crowded ;)  A little feng shui always puts me in a good mood!

She lit up with pride when I revealed her new room.  It meant no crib, more room to play and now truly, having a "Big Girl Bed"!

Warner's new buddy!

What a fun Monday!  My cousin Isabel is working on a "makeover" charity contest and needed a few girls to help her reach her goal.  Jamie took it upon herself to gather friends and set it all up (all the way from San Diego) - you would think she does that for a living!

Also, I would be lying if I said their wasn't an incentive for each of us involved.  This was the very first playdate for Dominic and Avery & Warner!  I'm not sure what took so long but these two boys together - wow.  Watch out girls!  Dominic is so ridiculously cute.  I'm sure you can see that!  But with Gina as a mom, how could he not be?!  These two were instant buds and both such chill, relaxed babies.

Avery seemed to love having another little Warner around and even let him play with her "Little People".  That, my friends, is a big deal.

And what would a playdate be without Mer being there too?  The baby whisperer made her presence!  Oh - and fortunately for us, spent another Bachelor evening with us!

Can't wait to get these boys together again!

family day!

This past Saturday turned into a jam-packed family day!  With no agenda, we spent the morning at the Phoenix Children's Museum.  Chris had never been so he enjoyed seeing Aves and Warner in such a "sensory-filled" environment.

Hmmm.  That sentence sounded forced.  ;)

Point is, the kids had a great time and how could we not love watching that?

After their much needed afternoon nap, it was time to head to the mall...specifically for them too.  Disney store?  Check.  Pottery Barn Kids?  Check.

Thanks to a friend's recommendation, I never even considered those potential entertainment destinations.  Four stars.  Avery walked into the Disney store with a smile as wide as it would go.  She even got to join the big girls while they learned how to draw Mickey Mouse!

We ended our adventure sitting outside to a delicious dinner at Kona grill.  It's always an adventure dining with little ones but they were great and I will say, it's getting easier.  It will be an odd day when we go to a restaurant without items flinging from the table at every angle.

Who wants to eat uninterrupted anyways?  Sounds way too uneventful.

The beautiful start to family day.
Avery casually requested "cheese & crackers" for breakfast in bed.  How many times do I have to say:  "its good to be baby Aves"!

10 Months!

Double digits.  Wow.

What is new with this 10 month old?

His two front teeth have made an appearance!  Just when I thought he couldn't get any cuter!

His personality shows more each day!  Making silly noises, grunts, coughs and giggles just to get our attention!

He has discovered a love affair with yogurt melts, puffs and mac n' cheese.  Yumm-ee!

What's not new?  He is still so, so very happy annnnnd perfect (in my eyes)!

Where's the sticker Mom??

Okay, here it is!

Yum.  Yum.  Yum.

I think this is my color!
Again, I am outa here!

Avery's 2nd Birthday Party!

We decided to keep Avery's 2nd birthday party on the smaller side since they will no doubt, be picking up in the years to come!  We had a little birthday brunch with close family and a few friends before the day picked up for the Super Bowl (hence the theme).  ;)

Dad and Ann arrived early (of course!) to help prepare, stock drinks and make delicious breakfast burritos that put the rest of my spread to shame!  ;)  Meanwhile, my mom entertained Aves & Warner by being a kid herself (as usual) and riding around and around in the toy cars!  Soon after, the Plas' arrived and Chris' family - all of which made the day that much more enjoyable!

Instead of ordering pizza for the game, Dad and Ann spoiled us by cooking (even more) chicken wings, carne asada and appetizers galore!  It was a great addition to the second half of the party.  And by the end of the evening, I was able to walk into a clean kitchen thanks to Ann and Therese.  I am spoiled with thoughtful people in my life.

What a great day to celebrating baby Aves!

Chris and I stayed up till 1am trying to make cake pops.  I don't recommend it.  It was a disaster that left us laughing all the way to Starbucks the next morning.
Can you tell which ones came from Starbucks?
